Guitar Hero 2 Demo Impressions
So, after a hot tip from the internet today, I decided to grab a copy of Official Playstation Magazine which includes a demo disc of Guitar Hero 2. Yes, because I can’t wait less than a month for it to come out, here’s some info along with my initial impression of the game.
First the info:
- Only Quickplay mode is available in the demo. Makes sense.
- There are four songs on the demo disc.
- Shout at the Devil – Motley Crue
- You Really Got Me – Van Halen
- Strutter – KISS
- YYZ – RUSH
- All difficulty levels are available for each song.
- I think that only single player is available for the demo. Maybe something different happens when you have a second guitar plugged in.
Now my thoughts:
- Three note chords are a lot more difficult than I had imagined. I also imagine I will get used to them eventually.
- The menu screen on the demo (select character, guitar, etc) is a little laggy. Don’t freak out. It does not affect the game at all when actually playing the songs.
- As I worked my way through Strutter and YYZ on Expert, it seemed to me that the difficulty in general is ramped up quite a bit when compared to Guitar Hero.
- When you break a streak (by screwing up once you have a score multiplier going), The screen dims for a fraction of a second accompanied by a sound effect. This scares the crap out of me and I really didn’t like it, but it also adds to the challenge by distracting you from the rock.
This game is so addictive and so much fun, it will probably send me to the hospital for wrist trauma. I just hope I can pass it off as injury caused by my day job. If you have the time and means, I highly recommend that you check this game out.
Hot off the wire, we finally have the full official track listing for Guitar Hero 2: Guitar Hero 2 Track List
